For Men
So… she’s pregnant?

Finding out your partner may be pregnant brings a wave of emotions whether the pregnancy is expected or not. Your involvement, feelings, and opinions are equally as valuable as your partners, and we exist to hear and meet your needs just as much as hers. You have a unique opportunity to support your partner, even if you aren’t sure how.
What to do:
Reach out to your support system. Even though you have a unique role in the pregnancy, neither you nor your partner must face these decisions alone. Having someone trusted to talk to about your thoughts, feelings, and opinions helps you both receive the support you need. Reach out to us today to set up a meeting with a male advocate.
Talk with her and LISTEN. Ghosting her or leaving her on read isn’t going to make this go away. In fact, it’s going to make things a lot harder for the both of you. Have frequent open and honest conversations!
Talk with each of your important people. Yeah, you may want to keep it a secret during the initial shock. But the people who will be directly involved (parents, guardians, etc.) HAVE to know what’s going on eventually. Who knows, maybe they’ll even be willing to help!
Learn as much as you can. Understanding what is happening to your partner’s body and to your baby each trimester can help answer a lot of questions and prepare you both for the road ahead. This could look like going to parenting or birthing classes, reading a book, or even listening to a podcast during your workout. You don’t have to know everything to be prepared, simply start somewhere and learn as you go.
Be there for your partner. Chances are you are both processing a lot and being able to support one another helps take off some of the stress surrounding whatever comes next. Seeking ways to make her feel that you are there for her can go a long way, even if they’re just small gestures or a kind tone of voice. Being honest with her about your fears and concerns can also help you both know that you’re not alone and that you’re in this together.
Have more questions?
There’s no doubting that this is hard. If you or your partner have more specific questions or concerns, reach out to us and we’d be happy to help.
